I got two new Dumpys yeasterday... about 1 inch each... when I put them in there new tank yeasterday... they tried to climb the glass... both of them could not climb... my grays climb the glass and sleep there... my red eyes climb the glass and sleep... but the dumpys could not stick to the glass... they can jump up in the plants and climb the limbs... but they don't seem to have the sticky little feet... they have the big pads on there toes... is this right? are they not glass stickers... the do look a little bulky to climb... more like a toad...
well my house is now well rounded...
a set of bull frogs... (god the male keeps growing... )
a set of grays...
a set of red eye's
a set of dumpys...
I think I am done... it now takes me about 20 min more in the morning... let the dog out... feed and water him... then check all the frog pens... pick up the poops... change the water ( looks like they have a party in there every night).
Tonight a buddy who is a photograper is coming over to take pics of the frogs... so I will post tomorrow....
Thanks for all of the comments on the fourm... it helps...
anybody with a white tree frog... do they climb on glass or is something wrong with mine?
Mine climb the glass with little problem. I do notice they do slip a little. Try wiping down the glass with a clean paper towel, see if that makes a difference.
Mine are currently kept in a plastic tank, and they climb just fine up the sidesI used to have a White's years ago who was kept in a glass tank, and he was fine too.
wow... after I get home tonight... I guess I am going to have to work with them... its basic wall climbing training for the guys... up the wall... down the wall... or maybe its a diet they need... they are looking a little plump like a toad... I dare say...
They are a plump species.
Both of my White's (Peregin and Meriadoc--can anyone name the movie I was thinking of?)climb the walls of their glass terrarium just fine. They like to sleep stuck to the glass.
Lord of the Rings but it is Peregrin. Mine sleep on the glass too. Mine is little (short but round) and has no problems with climbing even on wet glass.
Oops, thats what I meant! And yes, that was a very geek-oriented question.![]()
Haha my dad was obsessed with those books and read them to me when I was to young to read them myself. I know most of all the parts in those movies.
I wouldn't worry about your dumpy's not being able to climb! Leonidas (My White's) slips on the glass sometimes, too. So instead he gets lazy and hides in the hollow log that I have him. I would do what Kurt said and try wiping the glass with the dry paper towel. Dry glass is much easier for a White's to climb on then wet glass. They slip! Chubby little rascals.
