I've tried to search for this but haven't figured out the answer yet. I'd like to add some woody shelf mushrooms that I found in the woods to an enclosure for a White's Tree Frog. They have been boiled and baked (and for anyone who wonders, they turned from white to brownish colors using this method). I have the GE II Silicone to attach them to the sides of the enclosure. How long should the frog be out of the enclosure until it's safe for him again? Thanks!
Good question! The bottle of GEII says to wait at least 3 hours before introducing it to water. I myself would wait a couple days. Just to be positive that it is totally cured.
It seems you are just adding this to a current enclosure with your frog in there already? I suppose keeping him out of his home may be stressful so i would more than likely add the ledge during his sleeping time (taking the frog out at this time and putting him in a temp). Then re introduce him at around the 12hr mark (waking time for the frog). Make sure that the smell of the silicone is completely gone and it seems it has totally cured.
Just my 2 cents. Hope it helped!

I've been working on my terrarium background and was wondering the same thing. I only wanted to stress him out once so I wasn't sure when to actually introduce him to his new home. Thanks for the advice of letting him sleep while stuff dries. Another question. I've heard from some GEII is ok and others that it is not. I'm confused at this point. Everything on the label points to it being ok??? Thanks

in terms of what silicone to use GE I or GE II you are going to always get varying answers. I personally use GE I for window and door. As long as its 100% silicone and has no additives for mildew / mold you are generally ok. Now if it was me, i would wait at least 2 days to be sure. You definitely want to make sure the smell is gone for one thing. I think GE II's smell goes away pretty quick but i would still give it at least 2 solid days. I'm sure you know by now the fumes silicone gives off while it is curing are pretty strong and i know when i was sealing a background in silicone i almost had to stop for a bit because the fumes were getting too strong for me and giving me a headache. Now if it can do that to a adult person, imagine what it could do to a tiny little frog. Better safe than sorry in my opinion. Do you have like a 10 gallon tank you would setup as a temporary enclosure with some substrate and some hiding spots, that's what i would do and leave them in the temp house for a solid two days just to be safe with the silicone curing. And i agree, i'd move them while they are sleeping and try not to disturb them.
