    Default Terrarium Wallpaper

I was just wondering where you guys got your wallpaper/background for tanks. Every time I go to pet stores they never seem to have any decent looking ones and black is just.. bleh. Anyone know of a good website that specializes in this kind of stuff? Particularly foresty backgrounds, rainforest in particular. Just trying to find some nice ones for my pacman and tomato frog tanks. I see some at petsmart but they just seem so expensive.. I have a feeling I'll be paying a high price for good ones. Just hoping someone here knows of a place that has nice ones with decent prices. Google and amazon just aren't helping that much.

    Hi Pluke
I painted the outside back and sides of mine w/ Martha Stewart "all surface" acrylic paint. Cheap and a ton of colors ! Even sparkles ! Michael's Craft store.
ON odor= don't have to remove the frogs.
I have also removed it from the surface many months later w/ a single edge razor blade.

    Lynn's are awesome!

If you're creative, there are lots of options...
    Aquarium and reptile backgrounds
    Fabric - lots of prints
    Scrapbooking papers
    Printed photos
    Magazine photos
    Drawings
    Paintings
    Wrapping paper

I use forest like aquarium vinyl cling backgrounds for now.

There's always the option of great stuff foam backgrounds or styrofoam backgrounds.

Is there any style you're looking for? Certain colors? Prints? Flat or 3D?

Lynn, great idea!! I've been struggling with the background of the vertical tank i'm making for my gray's tree frog...I wanted to do "sky" for part of it but was worried about VOCs of any sort of blue tint/paint. On the outside of the glass makes so much sense.

Most pet stores sell the background wallpaper on rolls for less than or around $1.00/foot.
There are tons of great informative picture heavy threads explaining how to do the Great Stuff/styrofoam/silicone/grout/coconut fiber type 3D backgrounds if you're feeling ambitious. I'm in research and material gathering mode right now and can't stop checking out everyone's awesome ideas.

Yeah, I know what you mean about the research mode. I'm just looking for some rainforest prints or just forest for that matter. I'm not going to do great stuff or anything like that for my pacmans/tomatoes, I'm not really looking for anything 3D seeing as I want as much floor space as possible for them. Maybe someday if I get some dart frogs or something like that. There is one pet store I haven't checked and I'm going to go check it out sometime soon, just haven't had the chance. PetSmart and PetCo just want ridiculous prices for bad wallpaper rolls.. it's like $2.00 a foot and they don't even look good. I saw some for a dollar a foot at a fish place, but it was all aquatic themed. It probably doesn't help that I'm extremely picky.. but I don't think it's wrong to want things you'll be looking at for a long time to look good and be similar to the frogs natural habitat.

Thanks for all the suggestions so far guys.

How big is the area you'd like to cover? Lynn's idea might work great for this. Sponge the clouds in first with white and grey, let dry and add a few soft streaks of blue and then solid blue .

Here's another way. Then you could attach it to the back of your tank when dry. Just an idea...

Kate, yours is pretty much what I'm looking for. Just a plain rain forest background. I'm not really looking to paint anything or have a sky, but still thanks guys.

I'll be heading to a pet supplies plus I think here in a little bit, I believe there is one not too far from me.. unless it's closed down, which wouldn't surprise me. It didn't look to lively last time I went by. Plus they put a PetSmart right down the road from it..

I'll be sure to post my tanks once I've found something to my liking.

Thanks Heather! lol happy little clouds, Bob Ross is the best!

Sorry to hijack your thread Pluke, good luck with the Pet Supplies Plus run! I love the ones around me, seems less chain-y and corporate and the employees usually seem nicer/more knowledgeable.
