So after purchasing hundreds lf gallons of spring water ive decided to finally go with tap water and treat it with drops. My local pet store which has proven to be wrong many times in the past told me that fish aquarium drops are the exact same. Specifically a brand called Prime by Seachem. Makes sense to me so I bought it despite the stores shoddy past.
So im just double checking before I go ahead with it. Are the drops one in the same regardless of whether its for a fish aquarium or for amphibian use? It says it promotes the production and regeneration of the natural slime coat. Does this mean its specific to fish?
I just use the stuff I have for my fish.
Great. Thanks![]()
I just followed the instructions of 2 drops for 4 liters!! Seems SO wrong. Going to take me a while to wrap my head around this. Doesnt even seem possible that its doing anything lol
I use this one from Exo Terra to dechlorinate the water :
Exo Terra : Aquatize / Terrarium Water Conditioner
Do you think it is safe ?
It doesn't take much. I use AquaSafe.
From what I understand Prime is widely used and recommended for fish. And yes, it is just 2 drops per gallon. I have been told that some dechlorinators aren't safe for frogs, but don't remember where I read that. I know that Prime is considered safe, and I use it myself, although I tend to add 3 - 4 drops per gallon just to be on the safe side.
IMO Prime is some of the best stuff out there. I use it for my fish and all my reptiles.
Plus, if you screw up and put too much in the water, it can get up to about 5 times the recommended amount before it actually starts causing problems for the animals. Not that that's likely to happen, but it's nice to know that if I accidentally put one too many drops in a gallon, I won't poison my pets.
i use prime and swear by it its safe and it doseint hurt if you add a little more bekuz like what dvirginiana sed you can use 5x the dose and it wont hurt your frogs
Funny I have heard the same thing that dechlorinators are not good for amphibians, although without proofs, so that's the end of it.
Haha, I think that's why many people recommend Prime---you get more bang for your bucks. The instruction seemed too good to be true, lol! But you're safe to follow it.I just followed the instructions of 2 drops for 4 liters!! Seems SO wrong. Going to take me a while to wrap my head around this. Doesnt even seem possible that its doing anything lol
