wats up guys, I just got a new problem, so hopefully i can get some help here.
Since i just got the news that I passed both the interview and the test for a MBA program in Tsinghua university, so i will be attending this 2-year period full time study, and here is a issue for my frogs.
I can only stay in home for the weekend, which means i won't be able to do the daily spot clean. althrough my wife will help me taking care of them while i'm not around, whereas she is not a reptile fan at all(actually she is the reason i keep frogs instead of pythons, since she can't stand to have snakes in the house), So i have to looking for a substrate which is easier for her to clean(even its not the best for frogs),compare with coconut fiber.
Then i noticed this reptile carpet form Zoomed. I wonder is this the solution to my problem, I do know it won't allow frogs to burrow, however i can't give away this opportunity to better myself. and i believe the carpet have its adventage that any frog poop on the carpet it will make the poop easier to find(so hopefully it will my wife easier to do the daily spot clean), moreover i was told this carpet can keep moisture well and easy to clean.
any advice on this guys?
cheers.
Hi there
Reptile carpet isnt the best for pacman frogs because it can be abrasive to their skin
and dosent hold humidity too well. Whenever you recieve information from pet store employees, always
check it out online. A better alternative would be paper towel substrate but will need to be replaced
daily to prevent the growth of bacteria. Keep the cage between 70 and 80 degrees and feed every
two days for smaller frogs and twice a week for larger adults, crickets are fine but are not the most
nutritious so calcium powder can be dusted on the prey item, pink mice (newborn) are very fatty
and should be fed sparsingly. Other people like Gifthegreat and lija are experts on this topic.

The carpet would need to be removed and cleaned daily just as paper towels would. It may not seem like it but eco earth would def be the lowest maintenance substrate.

Just use plain paper towels as substrate. Keep them pretty moist and replace them everyday. The frogs will try to burrow in the towels, but this is fine. Make them about 4 layers thick for better moisture and allow the frog to trear them up a little. Be sure to provide a place for them to hide to releive stress.
This should be fine and make daily cleaning easy for your wife.
actually I'm kinda thinking that exo earth/plantation soil is pretty simple to spot clean too, they poop not that often, with paper towels your wife will need to change them every day, for me it would be too much
that zoomed carpet is bad for burrowing frogs, but i use it for waxies.
Save one animal and it doesn't change the world, but it surely changes the world for that one animal!
great advice guys, thx a lot. I shall follow the advice. I'll hang on to exo earth see if my wife can handle the spot clean,if she fails to do so i will just use paper towel instead.
cheers.
