Default Amazon milk frog doesn`t eat

    Hello!

My name is Mojca and i come from Slovenia. I have a problem with my little Trachycephalus resinifictrix named Frida. I bought her in Vienna exotica from a breeder almost a year and a half ago. The size of terrarium is 30x20x30 (LxWxH). She has her own swimming pool, lots of wood to climb and vegetation cover, high humidity and constant temperature. The main food are crickets, occasionally i feed her mealworms pupa or adults, she won`t take mealworms larvae. I give her cricket every 2 or 3 days (it depends), usually 3-4 crickets, no larger than the width of her head. In addition, on every third feeding i give her vitamins for reptiles Reptolife (Tetra) and occasionally Reptocal (same company). I add fluid aquatize conditioner (company exo terra) to the water. The problem is that the last two weeks and a half she does not accept food. She didn`t defecate for a week and a half and she looks like she lost little weight and she looks pale. Does anyone know what could be wrong? I am really lost and would really appriciate any suggestion..

    Kind regards,

    Mojca

Hello Mojca and welcome to FF ! Not familiar with your frog species; but if you had it 1.5 years and there have been no habitat changes, it might be sick or stressed. Loss of appetite is usually first indication something is wrong.

Do you have local veterinarian that could check your frog? With no defecation, it's impossible to take fecal sample and have it analyzed by veterinary or labs. If you search for "amazon milk frog care" you will get a few responses that might give you an idea. A search showed these among others: http://www.frogforum.net/tree-frogs/...caresheet.html; Amphibian Care >> Amazon Milk Frog (Trachycephalus resinifictrix) Care; and Care and breeding of Amazon Milky Frogs Phrynohyas resinifictrix.

Hopefully someone in forum that keeps this species might be able to help more. Good luck!
Remember to take care of the enclosure and it will take care of your frog !

Hello Carlos and thank you for your warm welcome and response! It feels like i came to the right place seeking help

I must say I am familliar with those and a lot of others caresheets but i didn`t find an anwser for my problem until Frida itself gave it to me
Let me explain: so she didn`t eat for about 3 weeks but 2 day ago when i tried to feed her i saw something odd in her water pool. It looked like somekind of mucus. And today she had a huge apetite for some crickets. I assume she had her "somekind-of-cycle" and was trying to make frogspawn (because of that mucus i mentioned earlier). Anyway she eats again, her beautiful color is back and i`m relieved

i love frogs so i`m sure i`ll stick around

    Thanks again!

    Greetings,

    Mojca
