Default Materials, materials and just what materials?

    Hello people,

Simple question, hope some can help.

What do people recommend (for the UK market) in terms of clays, epoxies and paints etc that I can use for making my vivarium/terrarium?

Lastly, I need to get hold of a suitable, external, small pump/filterfor the pools of water (clean the water, send it back via a waterfall etc) doesanyone recommend a brand/model?

    And that is it J

    Thanks,
    Paul.

I'm on my phone atm so can't link, check out my thread 'the build'.

I used HA6 black silicone (from amazon) to 'paint' the background and partially the sides, then used black pond/waterfall landscaping expanding foam, then a grout like substance called rockoflex (available from dartfrog UK) and to seal it I painted it with a product called plastidip which is mostly used in the car world but is safe to use, them pushed in substrate.

The other methods are gorilla glue and then silicone them substrate. Or expanding foam silicone and substrate. Other than that dartfrog do an epoxy for use with the rockoflex.

Depends what not are keeping, I was advised whites and milkies prefer glass and cork over rough substrate backgrounds, so 95% of my background is cork. If you are doing darts I'd go for expanding foam and plastidip all over or even just brown HA6. Do check out a deranged chipmunk's Madagascar tank thread, its seriously epic and has another great method using titebond III wood glue, which you can get on amazon.

As for plant pots, I siliconed up the bottom holes and put some aquarium tubing in one for drainage to the drainage layer

right on laptop now lol, links galore

    my thread - http://www.frogforum.net/vivarium-te...668-build.html

Deranged Chipmunks thread, must read - http://www.frogforum.net/vivarium-te...aludarium.html

    HA6 Silicone - http://www.amazon.co.uk/Bond-It-Adhe...1&keywords=ha6

Dartfrog, it's pricey on most other things, but is only place you'll find the dutch elastopur and rockoflex, has a great selection of frogs, wood and plants etc - Dartfrog - Everything for the Amphibian Keeper

and here's a site i found for some wood and moss, i've not used it yet but will be next pay day and you order the actual piece you see - Planted Aquarium Specialists, Aquarium Plants, Mixed Boxes of Aquatic Plants, Substrates, CO2 Sets, Fertilisers, Diffusers and LED Lighting Systems

i used swell reptiles for substrate as they arnt expensive and do their own FINE orchid bark if you are looking at making ABG soil

    Hi Meetloaf,

Danke for the info. At the moment, other than an aquarium safe tube of silicon and some EPO putty I had left over from a bodge job I did aquascaping my cold water tank, that’s my supply list . I've done with fish and decided to revert back to the ole frogs and toads.

I always used Hammerite for paint jobs and milliput for the ‘modelling’; however I guess I just wanted to put the feelers out for anything else that people recommend. I will 'assume' the above mentioned are still okay for amphibians as they have been fine with the fishy (minus a few oxygenating problems!).

I've just come off a night shift, I fear I may be rambling.

Any decent places in Cornwall to get stuff, including frogs?

    Thanks,
    Moi.

i'll be frank, not that i know of, all my stuff so far has been ordering online, not having a car in this county is not good lol, i'm told that carnon downs reptile place is really good, and then you've got goonhaven and another place over by newquay, the other place apparently even has two crocs lol. then there is a shop in st austell too apparently. but i've no experience with any of the shops, other than i've been carnon downs to get fish stuff but they are two seperate shops.
