I just read that cane toads eat plants on some website so I looked on some other sites such as Wikipedia, theamphibian.co.uk and Australian museum and apparently its true. I tried her on some romaine lettuce and she seemed to like it because she ate three pieces. Does any one else feed their toads vegetables like lettuce?
The reason they eat plants unlike other frogs and toads is because they hunt with smell. They are opportunistic feeders. That is one of the reasons i like this species so much. Also another interesting fact about these toads is that the males can lay eggs. If there are no females present and there are large amounts of males in an area. Some males will take on the roll of a female, breed with other males and reproduce. All of these facts kind of explain why Cane toads have been around for so long.
