How high can a pacman jump? Simple question that I want to know.
Thanks
From what I've seen. Only about an inch lol
My guy can jump a good 5 or so inches high when he wants to get out of his soak tubs.
I guarantee they can jump higher than that! Here is what happened. I have a fantasy frog in a critter keeper that is 7" tall. I left the lid off because I thought they couldn't jump that high - VERY stupid idea... Last week I found his critter keeper empty! Poor guy jumped 7" out of his enclosure and on to the floor and ended up behind a shelf on the ground. Thank god he is ok. Now I keep the lids on![]()
Did you have any beding in it?
this is something interesting to consider... just this morning... i walked into my reptile section. and realized i left the lid of my "baby" pacs enclosure last night... and i thought to myself.. thank god it wasnt something that climbs.
i suppose there is always the possability of something escaping... but i highly dont believe my little guy could make the 6 plus inch jump. sometimes he has enough trouble jumping out of his very shallow water dish
it depends on a size of a frog, but they can easily jump 2-3 times their size, babies even higher then that, so a lid is a must, including when they soak. actually they tend to jump higher from their bath tubs lol.
in 12" high enclosures they can reach the top without jumping, depending on their side of course, my ornate female has no problems doing so, especially after her soak to prove the point how much she hates me doing anything to her home, all she needs to do is to stretch her legs a bit, it is our routine, she messes up everything after i clean it, then i go clean glass again and she tries to bite me.
Save one animal and it doesn't change the world, but it surely changes the world for that one animal!
Good to know! I will definitely keep the lids on from now on. I've had this frog for a couple of years and this is the first time he has jumped out. Stupid me. At least he survived his escape... he could have jumped into his neighbors tank and gotten eaten!
Who is his neighbor?
They most certainly can jump!!! As Lija mentioned, it varies depending on the size of the frog and the species (Joaz tend to have longer, power legs and are JUMPERS!) but never underestimate them! They may be "sit and wait" preditors, but they are built to make long lunges at prey. I've had babies jump out of Kritter keepers and adults jump out of ten gallons. They all try to jump out of their baths. They are very athletic in small spurts. Just because they haven't tried to jump out before, doesn't mean they won't suddenly decide to try. And it most likely will be when you least expect it.
