is algae dangerous to african dwarf frogs? and if so how can i remove it?
okay thanks is there any way to get rid of the algae without having to clean out the whole tank?
Is the algae on the decor surfaces or in the water itself?
Remember to take care of the enclosure and it will take care of your frog!
There is a whole slew of different types of algae, it would be best to identify what type of algae you have first. I would check this site to try to identify it first. I know you did not mention this, but do not add any 'algae removal' chemicals to your tank because these are bad news (toxic to frogs) and a complete waste of money.
You can control algae by knowing what type you have, identifying what is causing the algae to appear and then making adjustments accordingly so that it subsides. That's the best and really only way to do it safely. You can manually remove it but it will come right back until we figure out what is causing it to appear in the first place.
Also do you have live plants? In the absence of live plants algae will almost certainly take advantage and begin to propagate. That's just what algae does, the algae spores are present and there are nutrients to feed them and allow them to grow and multiply. In essence *most* algae are just very simple plant life (some are bacteria, such as blue-green algae). Also is your tank fairly new? Almost all new aquariums develop diatoms (brown algae, typically forms on the glass). You can read more about diatoms here. These are harmless and go away on their own by doing partial water changes, so change out about 25% of the water weekly (this also helps against most other algae outbreaks too).
Definitely one of the best posts I have seen to date on algae. I definitely agree, toxicity aside, "algae removers" are a total waste, as are most chemicals sold for fish tanks. Balance the tank and the algae will go away. It takes much more work, but worth it in the long run.

What is tank size and how many frogs and other animals are you feeding in there? Also, tell us about your filter system if any and the current water change schedule.
Remember to take care of the enclosure and it will take care of your frog!
it's a 2.5 size tank just one frog the filter came with it and the water schedule is pretty irregular at the moment
