I have had 5 Dwarf Aquatic frogs for about 4 months now. I am not sure of the sexes, I didn't really care. It seems that one is a female for sure as she almost always has another frog hanging on to her. She is quite a little round frog as well. Today, there is a frog on her back and another on her front. She is swimming around (with some trouble) with these two hanging off her. She is still eating and bobbing up to breathe with these guys on her. Do I need to be concerned? Is she able to tell them to go away if she needs to? Thanks for any feedback.
Hello and welcome to FF! If frogs hanging on her interfere with her swimming and frog cant reach surface it could drown. Have you thought of using a net or similar to try and encourage males to release her? Good luck
!
Remember to take care of the enclosure and it will take care of your frog!
I actually did try to use a net. They are on a mission. I had them moving around, I netted them and brought them to the surface, and then I feared I was tiring her out by chasing or scaring her with the net. The boys didn't seem bothered at all. She is the one doing all the swimming. I did just notice that the one on her back has let go and now it is just the one wrapped around her belly. I will just keep an eye on them. I was just wondering if it was like guppies, where when there is too many boys and only one girl - they could tire her to death.
And thanks for the welcome Carlos.
