Hey everybody! I've had my little pacman frog, Button for about 3 months now. He's grown a little bit since I got him from Petco in December and I don't quite know if he's a juvenile yet but I would put his size at somewhere between a D battery and a large egg. I'll post a picture in a couple days but I just want to know how long he can go without eating. He's a hearty eater and really likes his crickets but I heard that juveniles have to be fed every other day which is what I currently do and I don't let him go more than two days maximum without food. The problem is that my family and I are going to Florida for a week in May and I assume Button will be slightly bigger by then and my cousin will likely be able to watch him while we're gone but even still just to be safe is there something I can do for him while we're gone?
If you feed him well in general, as of now every day and as much as he can fit in per feeding, supplement properly, he should be close to the adult size in May. You can give him bigger food before you leave, pinky or bigger and he would be perfectly fine without food for a week or even some more. But your cousin will need to spot clean and change water daily![]()
Save one animal and it doesn't change the world, but it surely changes the world for that one animal!
Thanks Lija! I only just saw this now. He's putting on some weight but I'm a little worried he isn't really growing. I'm going to start feeding him daily. I think it's about time anyway to start giving him Earthworms and little bits of nightcrawler too.
If you're feeding him well, don't worry, he'll grow. Sometimes their growth kind of sneaks up on you. They seem like they aren't growing, then one day you wake up and they're a giant blob lol.
Nightcrawlers are probably the best staple food IMO. Highly nutritious but lower impaction risk than any other feeder. It's all mine eats.
