I wasn't sure if this belonged here, but this seemed like the best place. Has anyone kept glass frogs of the family Centrolenidae?
Thanks,
Thomas
I, haven't but a friend has. He has the a terrarium that is taller than wider, and with lots, lots of plants for them to hide, also with some kind of mini-pond with some plants hanging over it, specially if you are planning to reproduce them. This frogs are nocturnal, and he feeds them with fruit flies and some times crickets.
How are you planning to get them, I mean, does someone sells them???
I'm not planning on getting any at the moment. I was just wondering if anyone was keeping them. I would love to get some if I ever had the opportunity.
To the best of my knowledge glass frogs have been absent from the US hobby for many years. Understory Enterprises is currently working with two species from Costa Rica and has a waiting list.
Yeah Costa Rica. You are lucky to be able to buy
frogs in a shop, I have to go to some place in the jungle and get them.
I agree with you Kurt. I think it would be awesome to live so close to a tropical rainforest, especially in Costa Rica where there is such an amazing diversity of frog species! It's really cold right now in Missouri and I have to pay quite a bit to get the tropical species you have roaming around your backyard, so dude, you are definitely the lucky one.![]()
Thanks for all the compliments to Costa Rica, but believe me finding frogs is not so easy at day but at night WOW. Those lemur are great frogs, buy them if you can. And Kurt It is Centrolenella ilex.
Hope you can get those glass frogs. Any advice I am glad to help
Thank you very. Any advice you have to offer is greatly appreciated. I hope I can get those glass frogs too. Of course, being the monkey frog enthusiast that I am, those Hylomantis lemur are pretty tempting.
I'm going to have to make it down to Costa Rica one of these days so I can see some of these species in their native habitat.
I guess this guy has them:
