Hey Guys I have a question red eyed tried to breed this morning with my female and he had no sucess. The male tried to get on her while she was sleeping and the female tried to shake him off, Is that normal? She was croaking a little bit but it wasnt loud. The male was croaking to gripping on to her. When the male finally got off she went back to sleep. Will they try to breed tonight? Is the female not ready to breed yet? Please help me I would like to know I have benn wait for awhile. Thanks!
If you notice that he keeps going on her and no luck or if he's been on her for days and no luck than it means that she is too stressed and that not good. You should separate the two for a good period of time until putting them back together. If it keeps happening than you may have to separate them for good but usually it won't happen again if u put them back together after separation.
Ps. This is usually normal for an female to do this if she isn't ready.
From what I understand, females like a variety. I have heard its sometimes difficult for a 1.1 ratio to breed when it comes to red eyes. Though I have not experienced this myself, that's just what I have heard from others. The more males you have the better. That being said, I have bred my red eyes and also witnessed some breeding activity. My female wouldn't let my male on the first couple times he tried. She made him work for it. Maybe she is not ready? Are they in a rain chamber? Have you tried to induce breeding any other way besides just putting a male and a female together?
